Our best guesses for who will take home the coveted Oscar...

Count on a night of surprises this year when the Academy Awards are held on March 7 in Los Angeles. With the Sun in romantic and imaginative Pisces and the Moon in expansive Sagittarius, reaching out to share a creative vision, it promises to be a great show with worldwide appeal. International interest and a great deal of texting and tweets are likely to keep things jumping. Watch closely - things may not be what they seem.

With Virgo on the Ascendant as people arrive, you can count on everyone striving to be perfect and all the little details to be attended to. Saturn will be on the Ascendant in Libra as the show begins. This could bring us some serious speeches that remind us of our responsibility to be compassionate to others and on the themes of universal justice and harmony.

This year, the pool of best picture nominees has grown from five to ten, and includes an amazingly wide range of films. Expect the fantasy Avatar to come out on top. Avatar is director and proud Leo James Cameron's baby, and the stars point to this being his night. His Moon in Pisces perfectly mirrors the cosmic mood of the evening.

Kathryn Bigelow, Cameron's ex-wife, is his only real competition for Best Director for her masterful portrayal of war in The Hurt Locker. Like her Fire Sign Sun and Water Sign Moon ex-husband, the planets will be in her corner. Kathryn's Sun in Sagittarius, conjunct the transiting Moon, promises recognition in front of millions of viewers worldwide. Even with greats like Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds in contention, the Cameron-Bigelow nominations are really a duel of the titans for the evening.

This same expansive energy is likely to propel another Sagittarian native, journeyman actor Jeff Bridges into a Best Actor award for his portrait of a broke-down country singer in Crazy Heart. This star of such classics as The Last Picture Show and cult favorite The Big Lebowski is well overdue for recognition. Expect some mention of his family in his acceptance speech.

At the time of the awards ceremony, Cancer will be prominent in the night sky. Cancer rules family and this promises to be a year when more families around the world watch the Oscar presentations together.

This energy also promises Best Actress recognition for Cancer Sun and Taurus Moon Meryl Streep. It is interesting that the sign Cancer rules food, as she is nominated for playing the flamboyant Julia Child in the charming film Julie & Julia.

Although Gabourey Sidibe was spectacular in her portrayal of an abused teen in Precious, her Taurus Sun brings little support in an evening when the action of Fire Signs and the emotion of Water Signs will be prominent. Audience favorite and Fire Sign Leo with Cancer Rising Sandra Bullock could be the dark horse winner for her true-to-life performance as an open-hearted mother in The Blind Side.

In the Best Supporting Actor department, Woody Harrelson, a Water Sign Cancer with a fiery Sagittarius Moon, nominated for The Messenger, will enjoy a double-shot of astrological support. Expect him to be standing tall on the podium on Oscar night. His most powerful competition is likely to come from Libra Christoph Waltz for Inglourious Basterds. Taurus George Clooney, nominated for Up in the Air, may have to be happy with just being nominated.

In the Best Supporting Actress Category we have a packed field of great performances. Many are looking to Leo Anna Kendrick to walk away with an Oscar for her work in Up in the Air. But Scorpio rules the dark side of passion, and this energy as channeled by Scorpio Mo'nique from Precious may have given the most emotionally heart-wrenching performance of the year as an abusive mother and could be the surprise winner. Foxy and sensual Taurus Penelope Cruz is likely to have to wait for another year to claim another gold statuette!
